NEPower selected as the EPC contractor for the Mikka substation project for Savon Voima Verkko Oy
NEPower has earned the trust of Savon Voima Verkko Oy to serve as the EPC contractor for the Mikka substation project. The 110 / 20 kV substation, set to be constructed in Lapinlahti, is an essential part of the region’s electricity infrastructure, with design and procurement activities already underway.
The Mikka substation will enhance the reliability of electricity distribution in the area and strengthen Savon Voima Verkko Oy’s extensive electrical network, which serves Northern Savo and parts of both Southern Savo, and Central Finland. This substation will help ensure continuous and reliable electricity transmission to over 120,000 households and businesses in the region.
Savon Voima Verkko Oy is responsible for maintaining and developing the power grid, which spans more than 27,000 kilometers—roughly 230 meters per customer. Substation projects like Mikka are essential for meeting increasing electricity transmission needs and ensuring that the grid can accommodate future energy demands.
NEPower’s role and expertise
NEPower will serve as the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractor for this project, taking on full responsibility for the substation’s design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. This scope covers all essential phases of the substation from start to finish.
NEPower Project Manager Jussi Perälä commented: “We’re excited about this new partnership and the opportunity to work with Savon Voima Verkko Oy on this project. Our goal is to ensure the Mikka substation is completed on schedule, supporting the region’s growing electricity demands safely and reliably.”
