DATA CENTERS

Data centers demand more from electrical infrastructure than almost any other type of facility. Power must be continuous, redundant, and engineered to exacting standards — because even a few minutes of downtime can mean significant financial and reputational damage for operators and their customers.

NEPower is a Nordic contractor with hands-on experience in the region's grid environment, permitting processes, and supply chain. We work with clients ranging from international hyperscale developers entering the Nordic market to local operators expanding existing capacity.

Delivery

NEPower is an experienced data center electrical contractor delivering full EPC services for data center projects across the Nordic region. We handle everything from grid connection and transformer stations to medium-voltage switchgear, UPS systems, and low-voltage power distribution. On time, to specification, and built to last.

As a data center EPC contractor, NEPower provides a complete scope of electrical works under a single contract. This simplifies project management, reduces interface risk, and gives owners a single point of accountability across the entire electrical system.

Experience

Whether you are developing a hyperscale campus, a colocation facility, or an edge deployment, we bring the engineering depth and project execution capability to get it done.

If you are planning a data center development and need a reliable electrical EPC contractor in the Nordic region, we want to hear from you. Early engagement with the electrical EPC team helps avoid costly design iterations and ensures grid connection timelines are realistic from the outset.

Experience

NEPower brings proven competence in:

  • Redundancy design to Uptime Institute Tier standards (Tier II through Tier IV)
  • Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) optimization at the electrical infrastructure level
  • Harmonic analysis and power quality studies
  • Short-circuit and load flow studies for MV and LV networks
  • Protection coordination studies
  • Arc flash analysis and safety design
  • Coordination with mechanical (cooling) teams on shared electrical infrastructure
  • Cable management for high-density environments
  • Integration of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Power Management Systems (PMS)

The Nordic region is one of the fastest-growing data center markets in Europe, driven by renewable energy availability, stable grid infrastructure, and favorable climate conditions for cooling. It also brings specific engineering requirements from extreme temperature ranges to grid characteristics that differ from Central European norms.

Scope

Our data center EPC scope typically includes:
  • Grid Connection & HV/MV Substation We design and build the high- and medium-voltage connection from the grid to your facility. This includes transformer stations, HV/MV switchgear, protection and control systems, and all associated civil and cabling works. We manage grid operator coordination and permitting support as part of the delivery.
  • Medium-Voltage Distribution Internal MV ring or radial networks connecting the main transformer station to secondary distribution points, generator busways, and UPS transformer feeds. Designed for the redundancy tier required — from N+1 through 2N architecture.
  • Backup Power Integration Coordination and electrical integration of diesel generator sets, including synchronization panels, automatic transfer switching, paralleling gear, and load bank testing provisions. We work with your generator supplier to ensure seamless integration.
  • UPS Systems & Critical Power Electrical installation and integration of UPS systems, static bypass, maintenance bypass, and battery systems. We ensure correct earthing, cable sizing, and harmonic considerations are addressed from the design phase.
  • Low-Voltage Power Distribution Main LV switchboards, sub-distribution boards, PDUs, busbar trunking systems, and final circuit wiring to IT load and mechanical plant. Coordinated with white space layout and cooling infrastructure.
  • Earthing, Lightning Protection & EMC Comprehensive earthing and bonding systems designed to protect sensitive IT equipment, ensure personnel safety, and meet data center-specific EMC requirements.
  • Commissioning & Handover Systematic commissioning from individual equipment through integrated systems testing, including load bank testing, protection relay testing, and full redundancy switchover tests. We deliver complete as-built documentation and O&M handover packages.
