NEPower and Kajave have signed an agreement to construct the new Piippu substation in Kajaani and expand the Lohtaja substation!
NEPower Oy has entered into a new and first agreement with Kajave Oy regarding the construction of the Piippu 10/110 kV substation in Kajaani. The new substation is designed to support the growing electricity demand in the Kajaani region and ensure the reliability of the local power grid in the future. The Piippu substation is located near the Renforsin Ranta business area, which provides excellent conditions for developing industrial infrastructure and meeting increasing energy needs.
At the same time, the Lohtaja substation will be expanded with a new 110 kV cable connection and associated control systems.
The project manager at NEPower, Riku Kohtamäki, is leading the planning and execution of this project. “This project is important for the development of the region, but it is also significant for us at NEPower. Kajave is a new client for us, and now we have the opportunity to showcase what we can achieve as a supplier in similar projects,” Kohtamäki explains.
At NEPower, we strive to provide opportunities for employee training and ensure that their tasks remain engaging and fulfilling. Junior Project Manager Joonas Hietapelto adds, “It’s exciting to be part of such a significant project and to delve deeper into the responsibilities of a project manager. This project offers an excellent opportunity to learn new things and enhance my skills while working with a highly skilled team. I look forward to contributing to the success of this project,” he says.
NEPower has extensive experience in large-scale industrial and power grid projects. This project further strengthens the company’s position as a reliable provider of substations and comprehensive power distribution solutions in Finland and the Nordic countries.
